Description
Summary:The traceability system is a system that is able to record product movements along the supply chain and trace it back. In food supply chain, the traceability system is considered important to ensure the safety of a product. There are two data architectures which are generally used today in traceability systems, namely one-step-forward and one-step-back or decentralized architecture and centralized architecture. In decentralized architecture the tracing process takes a long time and does not guarantee the integrity of the data due to unintegrated data. In centralized architecture, data is integrated but causes dependence on third parties as data managers. This research explores the possibility of other types of architecture, namely blockchain-based systems. The blockchain-based system allows for an integrated system without a third party by distributing all data to each member of the supply chain involved. Exploration is done by making the design using four blockchain system abstraction layers (Dinh, 2018). The design is then implemented in prototype using Sawtooth Hyperledger framework. The prototype is evaluated based on aspects that must be considered in the traceability system (breadth, depth, precision, and access) and blockchain system (distributed, verified, and immutable).
