The emission factor (EF) is an empirical functional relationship between the emission of a pollutant and the activity that causes it to form. The transportation sector is a key and main aspect in the growth and development of cities, especially in DKI Jakarta. One of the negative impacts arising from transportation activities is a decrease in ambient air quality due to the emission of higher levels of pollutants into the environment. The calculation of emission factors will be based on the results of measuring vehicle emissions at 16 points in Jakarta using remote sensing methods that measure the ratio of pollutants to CO2. In this study, specific emission factor values were generated in DKI Jakarta, Indonesia for CO, NOx, and HC emissions in gasoline-fueled and diesel-fueled passenger vehicles and light commercial vehicles. For CO and HC emission factors, gasoline-fueled vehicles generally emit higher emissions than diesel-fueled vehicles. As for the NOx emission factor, the emission factor value is higher resulting from diesel-fueled vehicles. From this study, it is also found that the emission factor of light commercial vehicles was higher than passenger vehicles and the emission factor of taxis is also higher than passenger vehicles. There is a trend of emissions reduction from vehicles with older to modern vehicles. The most significant reduction in occurred in 2007 which could be due to the influence of the applicable policy, the Decree of the Minister for the Environment No.141/2003 concerning Thresholds for Exhaust Emissions for New Types of Motor Vehicles and Vehicles in Production (Current Production). This policy regulates the implementation of Euro 2/II equivalent emission standards for motorcycles, cars and heavy vehicles. This study also produced emission factors for various vehicle brands and also cylinder capacity. text |
