Summary: | Saguling Reservoir which is located upstream has a role as the first “filter” for
pollutants from Citarum River. The sustainable use of air and the entry of pollutant
loads decrease the quality of Saguling Reservoir waters, so it is necessary to study
the water quality of Saguling Reservoir as a sustainable management of water
resources to improve water quality with a dynamic system approach using STELLA
9.1.3 software. System dynamic model simulation is carried out based on; (1) The
pollutant source sub-model includes sub-sector of potential pollution load from
domestic, sub-sector of potential pollution load from industry, and sub-sector of
potential pollution load from agricultural; and (2) Sub-model of water quality in
which BOD is an indicator of water quality and DO is an indicator of water health.
Based on the sensitivity test, factors that most influence BOD value are the domestic
sub-sector and the industrial sub-sector, so that an intervention will be carried out
in the scenario. Based on the simulation results of three scenarios of pessimistic,
moderate, and optimistic, the chosen one is the optimistic scenario. In the optimistic
scenario there is the highest decrease in BOD and the DO value has met the water
quality standard class II (PP No.21 2022). The scenario results for the BOD value
in 2019 is 16.00 mg/L while the BAU result is 25.13 mg/L, a decrease of 9 ,13 mg/L.
In 2039 the BOD value with the scenario is 10.72 mg/L, and the BAU result is 34.27
mg/L, there is a decrease of 23.55 mg/L. DO values with scenarios ranged from
4.04 mg/L – 4.12 mg/L. In carrying out water management efforts, there are several
things that must be considered from an economic, social, and technological
perspective. In addition, it is also necessary to pay attention to the role of the
community, government, and related institutions in achieving the improvement target |
