Description
Summary:Craft is a discipline that relies on skill and mastery of the medium. In the making of craft products, technical proficiency is fundamental where good technical mastery can produce high-quality works and open up the possibility of achieving innovations. As one of many techniques in ceramic craft, slip trailing offers a great deal of potential to be used as an alternative ceramic forming technique, by exploring materials, textures, colours, and application processes, as well as utilizing pre-existing styles as visual inspiration. The research was conducted using an explorative approach to obtain data on the methods of using the slip trailing technique as a forming technique in creating ceramic objects, which was then combined with visuals derived from the elements of the Art Nouveau style. The research resulting in decorative ceramic vessels is intended to serve as a reference for future study of the slip trailing technique as well as an inspiration for new discoveries in the manufacture of ceramic products
