Many aspects are needed to be taken care of in moving a capital city, one of them is electricity aspect. The new capital city is planned to be built between 2020 until 2024 and will need about 1500 MW more electrical energy supply. This enormous amount of electricity demand will need a comprehensive and careful plan about its utility readiness. In transmission side, transmission planning will be done throughout the entire Kalimantan island’s transmission system. Transmission line that will serve the capital city must comply N-2 reability factor. So, N-2 contingency analysis will be conducted. The result of this analysis will be use to find the i-index and v-index, then later to determine which transmission lines need to be upgraded. In year 2020 upgrading Embalut – Bukit Biru 1&2 line is recommended. In year 2021 upgrading Siantan – Parit Baru 1&2 and Embalut – CFK 1&2 lines is recommended.
