Summary: | Indonesian archipelago. Teuku Umar was one of the prominent Acehnese heroes
who rose to prominence during the conflict. In contrast to other Acehnese heroes,
Teuku Umar employed deception techniques to inflict significant casualties on the
Dutch East Indies, which made his war especially notable. The history of this
struggle shapes a citizen's sense of self-identity as a member of Negara Kesatuan
Republik Indonesia, a nation that was founded as a result of a collective effort to
fight for independence and expel colonizers. Because of the internet and social
media, Indonesian youths are accustomed to adopting harmful foreign culture. This
design was introduced to enhance a sense of national identity amongst Indonesian
youth, specifically amongst Aceh high school students. This design process is
divided into phases of planning and design. During the planning phase, designrelated research and data collection are conducted. The planning phase includes
theoretical research, information gathering about Teuku Umar's battle,
perspectives from Aceh SMA/MA students, animated media, and social media video
content platforms including Instagram Story, Youtube shorts, Whatsapp Story,
Tiktok, and Facebook story. It is crucial to remember that creating a design based
on historical events requires first gathering historic data and then figuring out the
extent to which the design represents the events in question. The outcomes of the
planning phase are then incorporated into the design phase to develop a design
concept that includes visual storytelling concepts, story structures, scripts,
character designs, overlays designs, and storyboards as pre-production. The
design phase continues with the animation creation and post-production, and
validate the animation for iteration process or includes the data or future research |
