INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/70887 Waste management activities need to be carried out and improved along with the increasing problem of existing waste. Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) is one of the waste management activities with the concept of waste to energy. RDF products can be used as an alternative fuel to replace coal. Seeing this, several industries in West Java have expressed interest in RDF products. The design of the RDF facility at the TPST Cicabe in Bandung City aims to participate in handling waste in the Bandung City while meeting the demand for RDF products for related industries. For this reason, in the planning, the necessary performance determination is made to convert municipal solid waste to reach the criteria for the product of interest. The main thing that needs to be done is the drying process to reduce the water content while increasing the calorific value. With the Analytical Process Hierarchy (AHP) method, the waste drying process used is bio drying. This process utilizes the heat from the decomposition of waste to reduce the water content. From the planning results, this facility consists of an unloading area unit for unloading waste from a garbage collection vehicle, followed by a receiving hopper, bag opener, and manual sorting unit to then separate highvalue waste and residue. Furthermore, the waste will be dried in a drying bay unit which can reduce the mass of waste by up to 50%. The dry waste is then processed in trommel screen and chopped with a shredder unit and formed into pellets so that the RDF product is ready to be used by the industry. The RDF facility at TPST Cicabe can handle 96% of the waste generated from a total of 27.54 tons/day at the end of the planning year (2047) with a potential yield of RDF products of 12.65 tons/day. From the calculation results, the minimum area for the facility is 1,316.20 m2. text
