Description
Summary:ABSTRACT

Aluminum alloys 6013 series is a new heat treatable alloys in Aluminum alloys 6xxx series and able to weld. The research of Alcoa (Aluminum Company of America) shows that aluminum 6013 has better formability than 2024 and 6061 in stretching. Base on its capabilities, is hoped to replace several application of aluminum 6061 in commercial aircraft. This thesis contains about the effect of filler metal and heat input variation in welding aluminum 6013-T4 by GTAW process to mechanical properties. The experimental results are yield strength, tensile strength, elongation, hardness distribution and microstructure from filler metal and heat input variations. They are compared with experimental results from aluminum 6061-T4 and analyzed. From this analysis, the suitable filler metal and heat input for welding aluminum 6013-T4 can be established.
