The objectives of this research is to perceive the existing condition of the market waste management from a technical and non-technical perspective, determine the amount of waste generated, waste composition, characteristics of the organic and inorganic waste, and devise recommendations for waste management conducted in Cicadas Market. In this study, a sample of 68 traders in the field was taken for 8 consecutive days following the National Standardization of Indonesia number 19-3964-1994 and a descriptive analysis of the questionnaire data obtained was then evaluated. The Cicadas Market’s waste yield by weight is 0.361 kg/m2 /day and by volume is 2.060 L/m2 /day. Composition of the waste produced by Cicadas Market consisted of 61.07% organic waste, 38.88% inorganic waste, and 0.05% produces hazardous. The characteristics for organic waste has a moisture content over 77.32%, volatile organic waste content 78.37%, and organic waste ash content 14.71%. C-organic organic waste is 69.36%, N-total organic waste is 2.38%, and the ratio of C/N organic waste is 29.15. Waste management recommendations for Cicadas Market includes providing individual and communal waste containers at the source, providing waste separation on the collection device, improving landfill facilities, build organic waste processing facilities with composting and have inorganic waste that still has economic value to be sold to recyclers, and final processing of residue to landfill. text
