BUSINESS INNOVATION AND METHODOLOGY FOR MANAGEMENT MINE BLASTING OPERATIONAL IN NEAR COMMUNITY
PT Berau Coal is a Coal Mining Industry located in Sambaliung District, Berau Regency - East Kalimantan Province. The amount of Over Burden in Pits L and F that can be excavated during 2022 – 2023 is 29,194,000 BCM. With a Stripping Ratio of 6.59, 4,438,900 tons of coal will be obtained. However,...

However, there are obstacles to implementing this mining plan due to the location of the Gurimbang Site which is close to the community. Slow mining stages (sequential) will result in coal being uneconomical. To achieve this target, it is necessary to change the excavation method from ripping to drill and blasting. The application of the conventional blasting method which is usually carried out in several PT Berau Coal locations cannot be carried out due to the Regent's document requirements. According to the Regent's letter, blasting in Gurimbang must use an Eco-Friendly Blasting method. Based on the results of previous blasting impact monitoring analysis at other sites, the comfort level values for blasting impacts that can still be tolerated are: ground vibration (GV) max. 2.5 mm/s, air blast (AB) max. 70 dBA and fly rock max. under 52 meters. The use of national standards (SNI) 7570:2010 and SNI 7571:2010 as standard blasting documents is deemed not to meet the criteria for occupant comfort. Therefore, innovation is needed in blasting activities to improve blasting methods. To carry out this Eco-Friendly detonation, the authors approach the Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) method with the Define – Measure – Analyze – Design – Verify (DMADV) process stages. There are two alternative Eco-Friendly Blasting methods, namely the Long Period Delay Blasting Method and the Digitalisation Blasting Method. Based on the evaluation results, the digitalisation blasting method has a significant impact in reducing the impact of blasting. The innovation chosen is the use of digitalisastion blasting as an eco-friendly blasting method. Implementation of digital blasting requires change management approval. The application of special technologies requires new strategies and increases the cost of blasting. The implementation of the digitalisastion blasting process as an EcoFriendly Blasting method has a significant impact in reducing the resulting blasting impact. On the other hand, fluctuations in world coal prices have prompted PT Berau Coal to review the feasibility of this project so that mining at the Gurimbang Site can continue. text |

PT Berau Coal is a Coal Mining Industry located in Sambaliung District, Berau
Regency - East Kalimantan Province. The amount of Over Burden in Pits L and F
that can be excavated during 2022 – 2023 is 29,194,000 BCM. With a Stripping
Ratio of 6.59, 4,438,900 tons of coal will be obtained. However, there are
obstacles to implementing this mining plan due to the location of the Gurimbang
Site which is close to the community. Slow mining stages (sequential) will result
in coal being uneconomical. To achieve this target, it is necessary to change the
excavation method from ripping to drill and blasting. The application of the
conventional blasting method which is usually carried out in several PT Berau
Coal locations cannot be carried out due to the Regent's document requirements.
According to the Regent's letter, blasting in Gurimbang must use an Eco-Friendly
Blasting method. Based on the results of previous blasting impact monitoring
analysis at other sites, the comfort level values for blasting impacts that can still
be tolerated are: ground vibration (GV) max. 2.5 mm/s, air blast (AB) max. 70

7570:2010 and SNI 7571:2010 as standard blasting documents is deemed not to
meet the criteria for occupant comfort. Therefore, innovation is needed in blasting
activities to improve blasting methods. To carry out this Eco-Friendly detonation,
the authors approach the Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) method with the Define

results, the digitalisation blasting method has a significant impact in reducing the
impact of blasting. The innovation chosen is the use of digitalisastion blasting as
an eco-friendly blasting method.
Implementation of digital blasting requires change management approval. The
application of special technologies requires new strategies and increases the cost
of blasting. The implementation of the digitalisastion blasting process as an EcoFriendly
Blasting method has a significant impact in reducing the resulting
blasting impact. On the other hand, fluctuations in world coal prices have
prompted PT Berau Coal to review the feasibility of this project so that mining at
the Gurimbang Site can continue.
