The preliminary chemical study showed the presence of flavonoid, tannin, saponin, sterol and triterpene. While potassium, sodium, iron, magnesium and calcium were found from the ash of the bark. Pentacyclic triterpene which was supposed to be lupeol, and sterol which was considered as p-sitosterol, were isolated from the petroleum ether extract and identified by ultraviolet, infrared, nuclear magnetic resonance, and mass spectrometer. The flavonoid was isolated from the ethanolic extract and identified as a flavone glycoside by means of ultraviolet spectrophotometer. text |
