Description
Summary:One of the direct utilization of geothermal energy is for fish farming. Pond temperature affects the growth rate of fish, where there is an optimum temperature for fish to grow. Geothermal fluid for fish farming is used to ensure that the temperature of the aquaculture is at its optimum temperature. To ensure that the aquaculture temperature is at its optimum temperature in various conditions, a temperature control system is needed, one of which is PID control. In this thesis, research was conducted on the response of the PID control system to disturbances in the form of cold air (19oC) and changes in the temperature of hot water sources (50±5oC). An analysis of the thermal response and effectiveness of the heat exchanger under various conditions has also been carried out. The object of research was a catfish recirculation pond with an optimum temperature (set point) of 28oC. The hot water source heated the pond water indirectly through a double-pipe heat exchanger. The stages of the research started with designing the system, determining the thermal requirements, preparing the tools and materials, designing the double pipe heat exchanger, designing the control system, conducting simulations of tuning the control system with Simulink, operating the system with disturbance, then data collection and processing were carried out. A recirculation pond with a capacity of 1 m3 with a hot water source of 1.05 L/minute requires a double-pipe heat exchanger with an area of 0.0458 m2. In controlling the temperature of the recirculating pond, the best PID parameters to apply are Kp = 617, Ki = 0.0011, and Kd = 0. Where in the condition without disturbance, with disturbance of cold air, disturbance of increasing hot water temperature, and disturbance of decreasing hot water temperature respectively can maintain the pond temperature to 27.94oC, 27.70oC, 27.97oC, and 27.90oC. So that the control system has been stated successful in maintaining the temperature of the recirculation pond with a maximum steady state error of 0.3oC.
