Summary: | Flights across the world increases in number annually. Consequently, traffic
movement in airspace increases accordingly, affecting the probability of conflict
among aircrafts. Manoeuvre must be undertaken to avoid conflicts, by means of
conflict resolution. In general, conflict resolution application is done qualitatively
by Air Traffic Control (ATC), purposely done to circumvent inter-aircraft
separation that may cause accidents.
Precursory detection models and conflict resolution had been carried out with their
own respective scope of research and method. This research paper discusses
development of air traffic management in a broader sense covering aircraft
modelling, conflict detection modelling, and conflict resolution modelling at airway
merging point. The models are integrated into a single model to acquire a finer
understanding regarding the effects of applying a variety of conflict resolution
towards the separation beyond the merging point.
Validation is conducted by modelling arrival in Soekarno-Hatta International
Airport and comparing the results with preceding studies. Subsequently, the
validation is done by visualizing aircraft position when simulation is ran,
performed to comprehend the correspondence of aircraft’s movement and position
to its designed route.
Conflict resolution is implemented in this research to obtain separation result,
impact of separation result due to various resolutions in relation to detection
distance, aircraft variables and aircraft resolution. Angle between merging point
influences resolution decision making, wherein resolution decision making relies
on range and meeting point among each aircraft. Time spent executing resolution
begets different separation value for each resolution. |
