RISK MANAGEMENT TO CULTIVATE GROWTH AND BUSINESS OPERATION EXCELLENCE IN PT PERTAMINA INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

There are many ships operated by the company as well as various types of ships owned by PIS sailing areas spread throughout Indonesia. The condition of the ship is not always seaworthy because it is influenced by natural conditions, weather, and the surrounding external environment which is part of custodianship of shipping area .In this research, qualitative and quantitative data were collected. The data was obtained by observation through interviews and brainstorming. Risk assessment from the above operation and based on risk mapping on main activities namely: Navigation, Mooring and Cargo Handling. It figures out 15 risk events that impacted to company business performance. It comprises of 4 events belong under Fleet risk owner, 3 risk events is developed from causes the operation activities, 4 risk events from HSSE division and remain 4 risk events under the human capital division. The Analytical Hierarchy Process Method (AHP) is used to define the weights or prioritization of root causes. Through AHP method, prioritization on creating mitigation and implementation plan, to be established from 3 root causes that obtained as follow Complacency, Lack of maintenance, and Unmanaged material. PT Pertamina International Shipping's reputation will not be good, if activities reported in the media contribute to incidents in the maritime world. Recommendations regarding mitigation of all risk events with a comprehensive strategy will cover all potential improvements. To prevent the recurrence of incidents of ships crashing into other ships, ships running aground and other incidents, 4P concept can be summarized as recommendation action strategy in company to build up safety culture.
