Concrete is the most widely used material in the world. However, the use of conventional concrete materials (cast in situ) has many challenges including long project schedules, increased construction waste and many work accidents. This underlies the development of precast concrete technology which is a priority technology that must be developed in Indonesia. The level of application of the use of precast concrete is not well defined, data regarding the level of its use is not yet available. Therefore, it is essential to conduct this research in order to gain an overview of the extent to which precast concrete components are used in the construction of buildings and to determine the motivating and impeding factors that affect their use. The level of use is defined as the frequency of use and the level of usefulness. This study has a hypothesis that the use of precast concrete components will be influenced by the type of building based on its height (number of stories) and the benefits of using precast concrete have been felt by the contractors. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire instrument distributed to contractors. It was found that precast concrete components in drainage work could be standardized, while precast concrete components in substructure, retaining wall, upper structure and architectural works needed increased use by promoting their use in subsequent projects. There are several driving and inhibiting factors in the use of precast concrete components. The motivating factor most respondents agreed with was the desire to shorten the project schedule. While the most impeding factor is the limited storage area for materials and equipment.
