ANALYSIS OF MUSCULOSKELETAL DISORDERS (MSDS) COMPLAINTS, RISK FACTORS, PRODUCTIVITY COST AND EXPLORATORY STUDIES OF TAISO EXERCISE IN WORKERS IN MSME FOOD PRODUCTION FACILITIES

Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) workers often have various health problems due to their work, one of which is musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). MSDs can result in decreased productivity, increased number of absences from work, and increased compensation for medical expenses. Musculoskelet...

MSDs can result in decreased productivity, increased number of absences from work, and increased compensation for medical expenses. Musculoskeletal complaints can also trigger work accidents. The purpose of this study was to identify and map MSDs complaints among food MSME workers using SNI 9011-2021, analyze the ergonomic risk factors, and productivity costs using the Institute for Medical Technology Assessment Productivity Cost Questionnaire (iPCQ) questionnaire. This study also aimed at analyzing workers’ respond on interventional Taiso exercise to reduce MSDs. The study on 77 respondents of Food MSME workers showed that 49 respondents experienced MSDs complaints, with the most complaints being felt in the hands (53.1%), neck (55.1%), shoulders (59.2%), lower back (59.2%), and arms (65.3%) with low level of risk of complaints. The results of the Fisher's Exact Test showed a significant relationship between the potential hazards of working while standing still for long period or sitting without adequate footrests with the location of pain complaints in the hip (p-value 0.03) and lower back (p-value 0.04). The productivity measurement among the 49 workers showed that the percentage of absenteeism was 2%. Furthermore, the average work produced while experiencing complaints was 6.4 out of a scale of 10, and the percentage of participants' absence for unpaid work in one day was 61.2%. The results of the Fisher's Exact Test showed that there was no relationship between the location of pain and the ability to work when experiencing the complaints. The results of the implementation of Taiso exercise showed that 95.9% of respondents experienced a reduction in MSDs complaints after performing Taiso gymnastics for 5 days. text
