Summary: | Indonesia is known as an archipelagic country by countries around the world based
on the archipelagic classification of UNCLOS III. The Indonesian government has a
spirit of regional autonomy where the management of the region is returned to the
local area as a form of decentralization. To support this, the Indonesian government
made the Draft Law on Archipelagic Regions, known as the RUU DK. There are 8
provinces proposed as archipelagic provinces in this RUU. However, there should be
standards regarding who is eligible to be proposed as an Archipelagic Region. By
referring to the concept of an archipelagic state agreed upon by 158 countries in
UNCLOS III, applying the concept of an archipelagic state as an archipelagic region
with existing criteria can be one alternative to help the government determine the
standard for the submission of provinces as archipelagic regions.
This research uses a normative legal research method using secondary data in the
form of primary RUU DK data and secondary maps of province boundaries from the
RBI map published by the Geospatial Information Agency. Analysis is carried out
using quantitative data analysis and SWOT analysis methods. |
