Description
Summary:Human mitochondrial DNA, due to its maternally inheritance, can be utilized to identify interpersonal relationship and determine the cause of degenerative disease. In order to determine the mutations occurred in the complete genome, each and every nucleotide of 16,569-base pairs human mtDNA have to be analyzed. So far, there are lacks of mutation determination techniques which are capable of resolving the amount, type, and position of mutations fast and accurately, especially when dealing with a great amount of samples. In order to solve the problem, a C++ based programme, named Mito Mutation Analyzer (MMA), has been designed and applied to analyze 270 samples simultaneously. The range of the amount of mutation per sample analyzed is 14 to 103 points with the highest occurrence of deletion and insertion of 15 and 10 points. MMA program and the illustration of its application presented in this research could give an understanding of its value in the development of mtDNA research, since the information about mutations could be obtained in such a short time and presented in compatible form.
