Description
Summary:Corrosion became a very serious problem in industry, due to its contribution on decreasing production efficiency. One of the corrosion inhibition technique that mostly used was coating. Biofilm was suggested to be an effective coating due to its regenerative and ecofriendly characteristic. This study investigated the effect of aerobic biofilm from E.coli Top10 to the corrosion behavior of low-carbon steel. Biofilm was characterized using an optical microscope with 100 and 200 times magnification. It was obtained that the growth of biofilm was equal to the bacterial growth. A longer incubation time was needed to obtain a uniformly distributed biofilm over the whole metallic surface. Aerobic biofilm of E.coli inhibited the steel’s corrosion through barrier mechanism to the corrosive environment on the surface
