In which the micropropagation is conducted by inoculation of explant in an aseptic condition, and under controlled medium. This production of secondary metabolites can be increased by addition of elicitor. The transformation of the plant nucleus by Agrobacterium rhyzogenes resulted the hairy root which can produce secondary metabolites in the short time. The aim of this investigation is to study the effect of a biotic elicitor addition toward the secondary metabolite productions. From 35 g of the hairy root of M. macroura Miq. 509 in the addition of Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast extract, yielded two Diels Alder adduct compounds namely, mulberofuran P (21 mg) and chalcomoracin (161 mg). The structures of those compounds were determined based on spectroscopic data including UV, IR and compared with the standard data. The data indicated that the addition of yeast extract of S. cereviciae on M. macroura Miq.509 hairy root caused increase of chalcomoracin production significantly. text |
