INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/71547 The Kenjeran Beach tourist area is an iconic tourism object in Surabaya City. In this tourist area there is still often unmanaged waste, so it needs to be improved. In this study, we have collected data (primary and secondary), analyze (feasibility and SAW weighting method), and designed waste management system. The existing total waste generation is 4.28 tons/day or 67.32 m3/day with an average density of 79.44 kg/m3. The most common types of waste are food waste (42.49%), plastic (16.47%), and wood/twigs & leaves (12.30%). Currently, the waste management system in Kenjeran Beach tourist area still follows the old paradigm, namely "collect - transport - dispose" system, there is not applied of 3R (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) activities in waste management. The design of the waste management system is designed with a sustainable concept, emphasizing efforts to reduce waste at source of waste and handling waste in TPST. This system consists of technical aspects of storage (organic and inorganic), collection, handling of waste in TPST, and transportation of waste to TPA, as well as several non-technical aspects, such as institutions and community participation. Based on the analysis of the potential for waste processing and alternative designs, the handling of waste in TPST is designed in the form of processing organic waste with BSF technology and recycling inorganic waste. The handling of waste in TPST has succeeded in reducing waste generation by up to 70.16%. text |
