ADSORPTION OF METHYLENE BLUE USING MAGNETITE-ALGINATE CROSS-LINKED BORIC ACID (MAB) COMPOSITE
Methylene blue is a cationic dye that is widely used as a dye in the textile industry. Methylene blue is not easy to degrade in nature because it is a stable dye. Thus, a supporting material is needed to facilitate the process of separating the adsorbent. In this study, magnetite-alginate with boric acid crosslinker (MAB) was successfully synthesized and characterized using FTIR, XRD, SEM-EDS, and PSA. Adsorption of methylene blue using 0.05 grams of MAB reached optimum conditions at pH 4 and contact time of 4 hours.
