Description
Summary:Domestic wastewater is liquid waste that results from household activities resulting blackwater and greywater. Around 7% of the population of DKI Jakarta still practices open defecation, one of which is in Kelurahan Manggarai. The open defecation practice also includes houses that already have private toilets but do not have local treatment nor are connected to the wastewater pipeline to a WWTP, so the wastewater flows directly to the nearest drainage and river. The areas where direct field observations were carried out were RW 3, 4, 6, 7, 10, and 12. After the observation, it was found that the distribution of open defecation practice was concentrated in areas along the riverbanks. Based on the secondary data collected, it is known that Kelurahan Manggarai falls under PD PAL Jaya's wastewater services area coverage, meaning there is already a main wastewater pipeline built serving several locations in Kelurahan Manggarai. From this explanation, the most appropriate handling of open defecation and wastewater management to be applied in Kelurahan Manggarai is to use a pipeline with a shallow sewer system to the existing PD PAL Jaya pipeline. The areas to be designed are RW 6 and 7, because zoning-wise these areas are in accordance with their allotment so by considering the sustainability aspect the pipeline construction is suitable. Based on calculation, the total number of houses to be served is 703 houses, the total pipe length is 3069.298 meters, the pipe diameter varies from 100-300 mm, slope varies from 0,001 – 0,020, and the depth of excavation is in the range of 0.4 – 4 meters. The design is presented in the form of reports and technical drawings
