Interchange Karawang Project divided into four access; two entry access and two exit access, which has total length of ????6.8 km with 7.6 m road width. It was designed to have two road systems, elevated and non-elevated road. On the non-elevated road segment, existing soil cut and fill works is necessary to obtained the subgrade‘s desired elevation as designed on vertical alignment. Determination of embankment thickness will calculating the consolidation settlement that occurs due to additional loads applied. Location that requires the thickest embankment will be used as reference to determine safety factor of slope stability of the embankment based on limit equilibrium calculation using Morgenstern-Price method resulting the ratio of slope determined for embankment is 1V:2H. On the elevated road segment, two bridges are designed, one crosses the main toll road (Bridge No. 1) and one crosses the existing river (Bridge No. 2). Each bridge is designed to have two abutments supported by cast-in-situ concrete bored piles. Each abutment of Bridge No.1 is supported by 10 piles with embedment length of 14 and 21m below the pile cap. While each abutment of Bridge No.2 is supported by 6 piles with embedment length of 16m. The determination of piles configuration and length are based on several parameter, such as bearing capacity of single pile and group piles, tolerable movement as result of elastic and consolidation settlement, and pile deformation which acquired from the result of pile modeling with Ensoft Group resulting of value up to 4mm. Pile forces that also generated were used to design pile reinforcement. Furthermore, abutment stability, which assumed as retaining wall, are also checked to withstand roll-over and shear failure as the lateral force of soil applied. text
