Summary: | The phenomenon of Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) is one of the global climate phenomena that affect the intensity of rainfall in Indonesia including Province Riau which is one of the largest palm oil producing areas in Indonesia. Rainfall is one of the determinants of high and low oil palm productivity, so that an increase and decrease in rainfall will have an impact on oil palm production and productivity. So it is necessary to conduct research to determine the effect of Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) on oil palm productivity in oil palm development areas in province Riau.
This study uses monthly rainfall data and Dipole Mode Index (DMI) from 2006-2020, as well as annual data on the productivity of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) of oil palm in nine districts/cities in province Riau from 2006-2020. Rainfall Data is processed and used to see the response given by the phenomenon of IOD to oil palm productivity in the study area. Fast Fourier Transform (FFT), butterworth bandpass filter, and inverse Fast Fourier Transform (IFFT) for DMI and rainfall data processing.
Province Riau is an area with Equatorial rainfall patterns as evidenced by the resulting climatological rainfall patterns for nine districts/cities studied (Kuantan Singingi Regency, Indragiri Hulu Regency, Indragiri Hilir regency, Pelalawan regency, Kampar regency, Rokan Hulu Regency, Rokan Hilir regency, Pekanbaru city, and Dumai city). IOD as an interannual phenomenon has little influence in all study areas as evidenced by low correlation values (0,03841 to 0,2212). While rainfall due to IOD on FFB productivity of oil palm has a varied relationship, seen from the correlation value is quite strong (-0,5441) in Pelalawan and very low (0,0101) in Pekanbaru. The same thing is also seen in the relationship of IOD to FFB productivity of oil palm varies, where the correlation is quite strong (-0,4643) in Rokan Hulu and very low (0,00282) in Dumai. |
