The preleminary chemical study showed the presence of tannin and triterpene in the leaf; tannin, triterpene and anthraquinone in the fruit; while saponin, anthraquinone and triterpene in the root bark. <br /> <br /> <br /> Ursolic acid was isolated from chloroform extract of the leaf and identified by.means of nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, mass spectrometer, infrared spectrophotometer and ultraviolet spectrophotometer. While scopoletin and ursolic acid were isolated from the chloroform extract of the fruit; scopoletin, morindone and four anthraquinone derivatives were isolated form the chloroform extract of the root bark; two anthraquinone derivatives and one sugar were isolated form ethanolic extract of the root bark. <br /> <br /> <br /> Magnesium, calcium, copper, silicon, and aluminium were found from the ash of the leaf, fruit and root bark, while sodium was detected only in the ash of the root bark. <br /> text
