Hybrid polymer has been applied in the optical fields, for example the use as anti-reflectant layer, electronic displays, and optic magnifier or amplifier. In this study dibenzoylmethane is covalently bonded to the 3-(Trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate monomer that would establish a complex with europium(III). The first stage in the synthesis is the formation of enolate ion of dibenzoylmethane using a base catalyst. The enolate reacted with the ?,?-unsaturated ester of the monomer. The second stage is the inorganic polymerization utilizing the sol-gel method. The third stage is the photo-polymerization utilizing the illumination of blue semiconductor-diode laser towards the hybrid polymer which previously into it has been added Irgacure 819 as photo initiator. The structure analysis of the synthesized products was performed by FTIR and 1H-NMR spectrophotometer, the determination of luminescence half-life, and the absorption spectrum. The infra red spectrum of the gel phase showed the presence of aromatic peaks of benzene group on dibenzoylmethane at 3097.5 cm-1, 1525.3 cm-1, and 769.8 cm-1. The 1H-NMR spectrum indicated that the gel has been bonded to dibenzoylmethane which showed by the changes in chemical shift and multiplicity of protons compared to the 1H-NMR spectrum of 3-(Trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate monomer. text
