Description
Summary:The construction industry in Indonesia is one of the most important industries for improving people's quality of life. One of them is by contributing government support through development funded by the state or regional budgets and the existence of national strategic projects. However, with this type of industry that can be said to be unique with very specific market needs (contract based), many construction companies, especially BUMN Karya, are carrying out various tactical strategies to meet industry expectations while maintaining profitability. one of which is expanding into new industries through its subsidiaries to support industrial companies such as precast, heavy equipment rental. As well as other industries outside construction such as property, infrastructure management and energy. However, in recent years, construction companies, especially BUMN Karya, have made major expansions by forming subsidiaries, so that not a few BUMN Karya companies have their subsidiaries enter the same market (overlapping).therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the industry and the contribution of subsidiaries to the parent company, and become the basis for recommendations on the impact on the company. By conducting industry mapping carried out in subsidiaries, and using Porter's 5 forces, market growth and market position and then looking at the gross profit contribution to the parent and its business management which is reflected in the gross profit margin. Then it is mapped using the GE/McKinsey matrix to see the contribution of each subsidiary and industry to the parent company so that it can be useful information for expanding or aligning the industry. As a result, one of the BUMN Karya companies, namely PTPP, which has 8 subsidiaries and 7 of its subsidiaries, entered the same market. Application of research methods so that it looks like a quadrant according to the provisions of the GE/McKinsey matrix that the construction, precast & ready-mix, energy and equipment rental industries are still promising for growth and development but for the property industry, although it is still a promising industry, the company should focus on maximizing the existing potential On the other hand, the infrastructure management industry has the potential to be divested. However, if it is implemented, the main performance will decrease by 2.6% from the performance growth, so that it is necessary to add other components in the matrix mapping.
