Description
Summary:Citarum river is the largest river in the region of West Java province which has an area of 6,614 km2 watershed with a length of 300 km. Upstream Citarum located in Cianjur and downstream were in Karawang. Citarum river has plays an important role for domestic activities, agriculture and industry in Karawang. Currently, the Citarum river has become a national issue as polluted rivers. The aimed of this study was to determine the contamination level through the existing condition of downstream Citarum River by the general chemical and physical parameters. Identified the organic pollution load of BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) from Non Point Source (NPS) and Point Source (PS) in the downstream Citarum river along the 17,7 km. Determined Total Maksimum Daily Load (TMDL) of BOD with WASP (Water Analisys Simulation Program) software. The results showed that the existing condition, the parameters BOD, DO, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH, TDS and turbidity do not meet water quality class II. Pollution index in downstream Citarum river has been polluted from the upstream river (Walahar Dam) to downstream (Jl. Rumah Sakit) from mild to heavy polluted. Point Source load of industrial waste amounted to 17.459,57 kg / day (92,35%) in contributing to the BOD waste Citarum river downstream, while Non Point Source from domestic activities amounted to 7,54%, livestock 0,09% and agricultural 0,01%. The modelling showed that condition of the downstream Citarum river at minimum discharge (1,6 m3/s) can not meet 1th, 2th, 3th and 4th of quality standards along 17,7 Km. At the maximum discharge (42,5m3/s) location of Citarum river meet 3th of class of quality standard increased 32.39% with TDML in segmen 1 is 11.008,07 Kg / day along 2,49 km and 2.799,90 kg / day along 3,24 km. Waste reduction of 50% of the Point Source and Non Point Source can not make the downstream of Citarum river meet 2th of quality standards
