Summary:Poverty is one of the disaster impacts (Carter, et al. 2007). The poor and lowermiddle class are vulnerable to sudden shocks and prone to fall into poverty. Therefore, the World Bank established an adaptive social protection (ASP) system that aims to build resilience of the poor and vulnerable households when the covariate shocks come. Based on the 2020-2024 RPJMN, adaptive social protection in Indonesia in the future will consider pre- and post- disaster situations to implement concept of social protection. This research focuses on the practice of adaptive social protection concepts in disaster-prone of Subang Regency. The purpose of this study is to analyze of the ongoing social assistance program in overcoming poverty due the impact of the disaster in Subang Regency. This research used the 3As concept by analyzing the adaptive, anticipative, and absorptive capacity of sosial assistance programs. Data collection was carried out by interviewing the actors involved regarding the disaster and distribution of social assistance in the research area. Government publications are also used as research supporting-data. The analysis was carried out by looking at the relationship between the impact of the disaster and the characteristics of the social assistance provided when a disaster hit Subang Regency. Adaptive and anticipatory capacity building in the social assistance programs in Subang Regency is implemented by aligning and horizontally expanding the ongoing social assistance programs. The result of the research shows the need for an increase in the capacity social assistance programs in adaptive social protection practice.
