The five slopes analyzed (SC-01 to SC-05) are made up of sandstone and siltstone. The resultsof the laboratory tests on the physical and mechanical properties showed that the average natural density of the rock ranged from 1.925 gr/cm3 to 2.717 gr/cm3 and the uniaxial compressive strength of intact rock ranged from 12.358 MPa to 73.363 MPa. The results of calculations using the RMR method show that the slopes SC-01, SC-02, SC-03, SC-04, and SC-05 are included in class II (Good Rock). The results of calculations using the SMR method show that the slopes SC- 01, SC-02, SC-03, SC-04, and SC-05 are included in class II (Stable) with probability of failure of 20%. Based on the kinematic analysis, the most probable failure type on slopes SC-01, SC-03, SC-04, and SC-05 is an oblique toppling while SC-02 has wedge sliding as the most probable failure type. Based on the analysis using the limit equilibrium method, the safety factor values for toppling failure on slopes SC-01, SC-03, SC-04, and SC-05 are 1.585, 1.064, 1.144 and 1.849 respectively. The safety factor for wedge failure on slope SC-02 using the limit equilibrium method is 1.1909. The volume of the wedge slide based on the model is 45.783 m3 with a sliding direction of 48.926°, N187°E. text |

purpose of this research is to apply the theories of geology and engineering geology
to analyze the stability of slopes on Jalan Gajah Mada, Batam City with rock mass
rating (RMR) and Slope Mass Rating (SMR) rock mass classification methods,
kinematic method and limit equilibrium analysis.
The five slopes analyzed (SC-01 to SC-05) are made up of sandstone and siltstone.
The resultsof the laboratory tests on the physical and mechanical properties showed
that the average natural density of the rock ranged from 1.925 gr/cm3 to 2.717
gr/cm3 and the uniaxial compressive strength of intact rock ranged from 12.358
MPa to 73.363 MPa. The results of calculations using the RMR method show that
the slopes SC-01, SC-02, SC-03, SC-04, and SC-05 are included in class II (Good
Rock). The results of calculations using the SMR method show that the slopes SC-
01, SC-02, SC-03, SC-04, and SC-05 are included in class II (Stable) with
probability of failure of 20%. Based on the kinematic analysis, the most probable
failure type on slopes SC-01, SC-03, SC-04, and SC-05 is an oblique toppling while
SC-02 has wedge sliding as the most probable failure type. Based on the analysis
using the limit equilibrium method, the safety factor values for toppling failure on
slopes SC-01, SC-03, SC-04, and SC-05 are 1.585, 1.064, 1.144 and 1.849
respectively. The safety factor for wedge failure on slope SC-02 using the limit
equilibrium method is 1.1909. The volume of the wedge slide based on the model is
45.783 m3 with a sliding direction of 48.926°, N187°E.
