A Big Data system is designed and implemented to analyze election data in Indonesia and meet the information needs of election stakeholders. The information needs to be discussed in this Final Project are Election Results and Electability. Five questions for analysis and visualization are arranged based on election data available on the Info Publik Pemilu 2019 website and other external data. After the 2019 election data and external data have been processed and verified, visualizations are created by taking into account several visualization aspects, such as the type of visualization used, color selection, annotations, and interactive features. The visualization is implemented using Javascript because the other tools have limited interaction on map-based visualization. Visualization implementations are grouped into four dashboards, two with interactive map visualizations and another two that contain other visualizations. Each of these groups is divided into Presidential Election visualization and Parliament Election visualization. Each dashboard has annotations for each visualization, and the dashboard with map visualization has an interactive feature for viewing election results at the district/city level. These dashboards are mapped with the information needs and questions prepared in the previous stage. The visualization implementation has fulfilled the information needs. Analysis results can be improved with more detailed data. Similar research can also be done by utilizing other election data. text |

Research on elections in Indonesia is still limited to qualitative research and
sentiment analysis on social media. A Big Data system is designed and
implemented to analyze election data in Indonesia and meet the information needs
of election stakeholders.
The information needs to be discussed in this Final Project are Election Results and
Electability. Five questions for analysis and visualization are arranged based on
election data available on the Info Publik Pemilu 2019 website and other external
data. After the 2019 election data and external data have been processed and
verified, visualizations are created by taking into account several visualization
aspects, such as the type of visualization used, color selection, annotations, and
interactive features. The visualization is implemented using Javascript because the
other tools have limited interaction on map-based visualization.
Visualization implementations are grouped into four dashboards, two with
interactive map visualizations and another two that contain other visualizations.
Each of these groups is divided into Presidential Election visualization and
Parliament Election visualization. Each dashboard has annotations for each
visualization, and the dashboard with map visualization has an interactive feature
for viewing election results at the district/city level. These dashboards are mapped
with the information needs and questions prepared in the previous stage.
The visualization implementation has fulfilled the information needs. Analysis
results can be improved with more detailed data. Similar research can also be done
by utilizing other election data. |
