Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a degenerative disease caused by metabolic disorders resulting from the inability of the pancreas to produce insulin so that blood sugar levels in the body exceed normal limits. Blood sugar levels that exceed normal limits will be very susceptible to developing DM and high blood pressure, and can affect anxiety levels, therefore treatment is needed that can control blood sugar levels, high blood pressure and anxiety levels in people with DM. Method: This study is a study with a two-period experimental counterbalance crossover with a purposive sampling technique. The measurement variables in this study were blood sugar levels, blood pressure, and anxiety levels of DM sufferers. This study was conducted for 2 months with two different interventions, namely Sports Massage and active recovery after being given an exercise program. The subjects in this study were 20 women aged > 50 years who suffered from DM at the Bandung City health center and who entered the prolanis program. Each period of the study, the subjects performed a 20-minute exercise program and after that were given the intervention of Sports Massage and active recovery for 20 minutes each. Results: In Both Sports Massage therapy and active recovery there was a decrease in blood sugar levels in dm sufferers but did not have a significant effect on blood sugar levels (P>0.05), for blood pressure and anxiety levels there was a significant decrease (p<0.05), and there was a significant difference between the two, active recovery more effective against lowering blood sugar levels, blood pressure and anxiety levels than Sports Massage which has an effect on blood pressure, and anxiety levels. Conclusion: Sports Massage and active recovery are good therapies to lower blood sugar levels, blood pressure, and anxiety levels in people with DM. Although active recovery is better against lowering blood sugar levels than sports massage, sports massage and active recovery therapy have a good influence. So, both therapies are very good to apply to people with DM.
