Description
Summary:Drill and Blast activiy gives a huge impact to a whole process of exploitation. When the result of drilling and blasting are not good enough, the size of the blasted material produced will be categorized as boulder on many spot. Hence, the loading, hauling, and cominuting will be stunted. Therefore, drill and blast activity must be well planed in order to resulting a good performance. Martabe Gold Mine site have a blast geometry master as a guideline to drill and blasting planning. This guidelines are base on material characteristic that will be blasted. One of the variation on this guidelines is diameter of drill bit. This research will find out which diameter of drill bit, 127 mm or 140 mm, that can gives a better drill and blast performance. The parameter been used to qualify the drill performance is penetration rate of drill bit, while to qualify the blast performance is productive energy transmitted. Drill bit 127 mm gives a better performance on Drilling (penetration rate) and Blasting (Productive Energy produced). Productive energy referred to fragmenting energy for crushuing the insitu rock and displacement energy for rock’s movement
