Description
Summary:The rapid development of e-commerce and the situation of the Coronavirus Disease (Covid-19) Pandemic has driven an increase in the volume of packaging waste generated from online purchasing activities. Unmanaged packaging waste can increase the volume of waste that enters the landfill, as well as have an impact on water and soil pollution. The Yogyakarta City Government has established a waste facility but this has not significantly reduced the volume of waste at the Piyungan TPA because community participation in waste management is still low. This study aims to examine community behavior and measure the willingness of community participation in managing packaging waste using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) model. This study uses a quantitative approach using primary data. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires to residents of the City of Yogyakarta with a total of 111 respondents spread across 14 districts in the City of Yogyakarta. In the scale of measurement, five Likert scales are used, and sampling is carried out using the Cluster Random Sampling method. The test analysis method in this study used Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results showed that 68% of respondents stated that they had experienced an increase in the number of online purchases, from an average of 1-3 times per month before the Covid-19 Pandemic, to an average of 4-7 times per month during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Meanwhile, the results of research on the willingness to participate in the management of packaging waste from online shopping activities show that perceptions of behavior control, knowledge and convenience have a positive and significant direct effect, or the higher the perception, knowledge and convenience in the community can increase the willingness of the community to participate. Meanwhile, subjective attitudes and norms directly have a positive but not significant effect on willingness to participate in society. The effect of attitude variables and subjective norms on willingness to participate can be increased through knowledge and comfort variables. In this case, knowledge is able to mediate attitude variables in influencing willingness to participate, and convenience variables are able to mediate subjective norm variables in influencing people's willingness to participate in packaging waste management in the community.
