However, interaction between land and sea causes coast being an extraordinary dynamic system which experiences changes that may pose negative impacts to people living in it. One of those changes occuring at coastal zone is shoreline change. This study aims to examine shoreline change at Blanakan Subdistrict from 1995 to 2020 by considering waves and wave-induced sediment transport. This research was done by utilizing satellite image data from Landsat images in 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2020. Modified Normalised Difference Water Index (MNDWI) is used in order to increase the contrast between water and non-water objects, so we could get more accurate results. Digital Shoreline Analysis System (DSAS) is also used, allowing us to get shoreline change statistics. Results showed that Blanakan Subdistrict was dominated by accretion. For 25 years, Blanakan Subdistrict experienced an increase in land area with the value of 7,269 km2. The average of the shoreline aggradation was +745,91 m with the average of the aggradation rate reached +31,83 m/year. Accretion that occurs at Blanakan Subdistrict is mainly influenced by wave and supply of sediment coming from Ci Lamaya River and Ci Asem River. During west monsoon, large sediment supply from the two rivers is distributed to the center of Blanakan Bay, causing significant accretion at Blanakan Bay. text |
