Summary: | Along with the increasing demand for building construction, the construction industry is also becoming more competitive. Construction workers, especially contractors, are required to carry out various innovations in order to compete. One of the innovations that can be done is to apply construction technology, starting from improving existing equipment, applying monitoring technology to get good performance quality, and others. The application of technology in the construction sector is needed to improve the performance of construction work in terms of cost, quality, and time. Along with the development of sustainable technology concepts, construction technology must also meet the needs of sustainability (Skibniewski & Zavadskas, 2012). In the research conducted by McKinsey in Reinventing Construction: A Route to Higher Productivity (2017), the application of technology in construction will help increase work productivity by 14-15% and cut cost by 4-5%. The application of technology requires a large investment, however, contractors are reluctant to invest as there is no clear evidence on the benefit of its usage. Moreover, data on technological construction in Indonesia is still not well recorded. Currently, most of the construction industry adopt certain technologies only because some existing regulations/agreements required them to do so. There is still a big question mark regarding which building construction technology development should be prioritized in Indonesia. This study aims to obtain information related to building construction technology data in Indonesia so that the application and development of technology is right on target by obtaining construction technology that has significant benefits to the building construction process, obtaining priority use of technology to improve construction performance, and identifying the driving and inhibiting factors of contractors in the use of technology. |
