The objective of this research is to analyze the risk caused by noise in PT X. There are four stages in this research : hazard identification, exposure evaluation, dose-respon curve, and risk characterization. Exposed groups are the worker from Forging and Cast Department, while non-exposed group are from Administration of Forging and Cast Department. The maximum noise exposure in Forging Department was 92.06 dB (A) while in Cast Department was 114.4 dB(A) and 77.84 dB(A) for non-exposed group. The high noise exposure in PT X caused significant threshold shift and decrease of hearing threshold. Besides that, effect of physiology, psychology and hearing loss caused by noise also have been examined. The effect of physiology tested by measuring blood pressure and heart rate. Blood pressure and heart rate that have been measured still in the normal range (no hypertensi potency). There's no different between the blood pressure and heart beat before and after noise exposured. The biggest effect of physiology asked in quesioner is headache and psychology effect is they have to increase their radio/TV volume higher than before. Hearing loss effect shown by Audiometric test. Then the result of noise exposure and audiometer test connected in a dose-respone curve. The consistency shown until the maximum value, it shown in both dose-response curve based on threshold shift and decline of hearing loss. Risk characterisation tested by HI (Hazard Index) and RR (Relative Risk) value. HI for Forging Department was 1.03 and 1.08 in Cast Department. These values higher than non-exposed group (HI = 0.82), showed there's noise hazard in the exposed group workplace. RR (Relative Risk) value showed the ratio of the probability of the event occurring in the exposed group versus the non-exposed group.RR ≥ 1 means the event is more likely to occur in the exposed group than in the control group. Increased of noise intensity will increase the risk of hearing loss in exposed group. The RR for Forging Department was 1,28 times higher than non exposed group, while Cast Department RR was 2,69 times higher. The conclusion is high noise exposure in Forging and Cast Department of PT X resulted the significant threshold shift and decline of hearing loss. text |
