Summary: | Collecting is an interesting and complex economic behaviour that falls somewhere between investment and consumption. Despite its prevalence, collectors remain relatively understudied, particularly in the Indonesian context. The purpose of this study is to explore the characteristics of Indonesian collectors using a mixed- methods approach. Specifically, we aim to investigate the Big Five personality traits as well as other key traits that define collectors in Indonesia. Our methodology involves conducting unique sample interviews with Indonesian collectors from diverse demographics, as well as surveys to test the validity of the result. We conducted Mean Analysis, ANOVA analysis, and Correlation Analysis to analyse Collectors’ Big Five personality profile. This study found that Indonesian collectors score high in four out of five Big Five factors. As for tangible result, this study suggests collectible businesses to focus more on producing things that accommodate collector’s collection than producing limited items. |
