The Zalacca peel powder was initially extracted before then was used in the sunscreen’s cream base. There were five different compositions of sunscreen cream: without Zalacca peel extract (F0), with 1 g (F1), 2 g (F2), 3 g (F3), and 4 g of Zalacca peel extract (F4). To evaluate the product's physical properties, comprehensive characterization have been carried out which cover the organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, adhesion, density, and SPF value test. The in vitro SPF testing was performed by UV-Vis spectrophotometer using solution analysis method and SPF values were calculated by Mansur equation. The test results were evaluated based on BPOM standard, SNI 16-4399-1996, and the Indonesian Pharmacopoeia regulation. From 200 grams of Zalacca peel powder, 16.49 grams of extract are produced during the extraction process. The organoleptic, homogeneity, and pH of the produced sunscreen met the requirements of SNI 16-4399-1996. It was found that the variations in the composition of Zalacca peel extract affected the spreadability and adhesion tests results of F0 and F1 had spreadabilities of less than 5 cm, but F2, F3, and F4 had spreadabilities greater than 5 cm. This indicates that F2, F3, and F4 can be easily applied to human skin. The adhesion test for F0 and F1 took less than 4 seconds, whereas F2, F3, and F4 it took more than 4 seconds. This indicates that F2, F3, and F4 can last for a considerable amount of time on facial skin. The SPF value of F0 and F1 are 1,2 and 3,3 while F2, F3 and F4 are 5,7, 10,9 and 11,9. The SPF value of F2, F3 and F4 are greater than 4. This indicate that F2, F3, and F4 have met the SNI requirements. text
