Description
Summary:Palembang City has the potential of the Musi River with an area of about 750 km and a depth of 25 meters which connects Ulu and Ilir with the authentic Ampera Bridge. It is this potential of the Musi River that makes Palembang City use the Waterfront City Concept based on the 2012-2032 Palembang City Spatial Planning document. However, in the course of the waterfront city development program it has not run optimally, especially in the Kampung Kapitan area which is one of the tourist attractions of Palembang City which is located on the banks of the Musi river but has not been able to take advantage of the Musi river such as buildings and activities that have not been oriented towards rivers and open spaces for interact socially. Kampung Kapitan as one of the cultural heritages in Palembang City has not been able to become the main attraction because basically it only contains traditional Kampung Kapitan houses, without other attractions such as cultural events, services, institutions and financing which are not optimal, the level of security is still low, people who have not been empowered, and the skills of the people of Palembang in making songket, jumputan, and pempek so as to create an increase in the local economy. So that it is necessary to revitalize Kampung Kapitan based on the Waterfront City Concept by using a qualitative descriptive analysis method of potentials and problems as well as internal and external site analysis based on observations, secondary data, and interviews with stakeholders also using fragmental method through redevelopment that can create Kampung Kapitan as a cultured tourism area, participatory, and integrated to support the surrounding social and economic aspects in accordance with the Waterfront City Concept.
