EFISIENSI RECOVERY MINYAK PADA INJEKSI CARBONATED WATER FLOOD

Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) is a method to improve oil recovery by injecting external fluid or substances to the reservoir. One of them is carbonated water flood, where water saturated with CO2 is being injected for displacing oil and reducing oil viscosity. Carbon dioxide is being transferred fr...

One of them is carbonated water flood, where water saturated with CO2 is being injected for displacing oil and reducing oil viscosity. Carbon dioxide is being transferred from the injected water to crude oil. The displacement mechanism can be determined by using Buckley-Leverett equation and CO2 continuity equation. In this displacement process two shock fronts will occurred. The objective of this final project is to determine saturation in that front with Rankine-Hugoniot condition and estimate oil displacement efficiency. Some numeric simulations using oil sample from oil field X-1 are obtained. Simulation result showed that increasing concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) will increase front saturation and oil displacement efficiency. From oil sample X-1, carbonated water flood injection can raise production up to 80% depending on concentration rate. text
