The low quality of public transport services causes a tendency for people to use private transport, causing various problems such as congestion. One of the Serang City Government's efforts to anticipate increased traffic and attract private vehicle users to use public transportation is to provide a Bus Rapid Transit-based mass public transportation system. In the early stages, BRT Corridor 1 stage 1 Pakupatan will operate up to the Cilegon border. Before the BRT operates, it is important to analyze the potential demand and public interest in using BRT for their daily activities. In the early stages, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 140 respondents to potential BRT users in Serang City. Then an analysis was carried out using the cross-tabulation method to determine the characteristics and factors that influence people's interest in using BRT. From the results of this analysis, it was found that 69% of respondents chose to use BRT, 5% chose not to use BRT and only 26% of respondents would definitely use BRT. Factors that significantly affect people's interest in using BRT are the type of vehicle used by respondents, BRT tariff tolerance and BRT waiting time tolerance. Then an analysis is carried out to determine the BRT tariff based on the ability (Ability to Pay) and willingness (Willingness to Pay) to pay the community. From the results of the analysis, the tariff results are based on the ability to pay in the student category, which is Rp. 2,500 and in the general category Rp. 4,000. Meanwhile, in the WTP analysis, the tariff results based on willingness to pay in both student and general categories are Rp. 5,000.
