Description
Summary:Abstract:

Interconnection fare is rarely discussed although it has quite essential role in providing service from customer to customer (any to any) and creating fairness among telecommunication network operators. This final projects objectives are to study the interconnection fare calculation, to study the effect of the interconnection fare to telecommunication fare and operators income, and to study how telecommunication operators work around this interconnection fare in order to obtain a larger income.

The research is started with literature study and interconnection fare data from Indonesian operator, continued with the analysis of the problem, and then an observation of the current condition.

The analysis and case study shows that interconnection fare is a quite important component in determining communication fare. For several cases, the value even reaches more than 33percent of the communication fare. With different interconnection fare system, the regular operator income would change in a considerable amount. Thus, it is very important for an operator to consider interconnection fare in determining their marketing strategy based on the number of the customers and the traffic characteristic of the customer. Currently, a lot of operators are trying to attract new customer by lowering the fare of service among their customer, since the increasing number of customer would mean an increase in income, even though the new customer only receives traffic from other customer
