| Summary: | Ceramics is a crafting / diligence product and technology that stay existing since
the ancient era until now. Ancient definition about ceramics is a product comes
from clay burned at high temperature until a changes of properties is happened.
As time goes by, ceramic definition started turns into ‘all nonmetallic an
inorganic materials which is in the compact form so that its inclusion is broader,
either in the case of material and also its function, so that ceramics was divided
into 2 main groups, traditional ceramics and modern ceramics. Although
traditional ceramics is an ancient product, traditional ceramics still stay until
now and experiences fast development especially in supply of requirement
elements of household. Seen from feedstock, traditional ceramics will not extinct,
being remembered that clay was a very abundance component of traditional
ceramics.
In this final thesis, traditional ceramics fabrication will be studied by using clay
as feedstock and Carbon to increase ceramics strength at the same time lessens
time firing-process in traditional ceramics making. There are various Carbon :
Clay ratio variation. To obtain ceramics strength that is produced,
characterization in the form of compress test was done. |
