Godean area has the interesting geological aspect since it’s the residual of ancient Miocene volcano erosion and there is the beauty of the landscape. This causes Godean area has the potential to be developed into a geotourism object. However, there is no geotourism development in the Godean area so this research aims to study the geological potential to become a geotourism destination. The research was conducted at Jering Hills and surrounding areas based on geological mapping and potential analysis from geosite to geotourism. Geological mapping consists of geomorphological observations, geological structure, and the distribution of lithology in the study area. The geotourism potential analysis consists of geotourism box analysis, geodiversity analysis, and quantitative assessment of geosite in the study area by conducting direct observation in the field. The results of the geotourism analysis will be processed into ideas in determining steps to develop geotourism. The results of the geological mapping show that the study area can be divided into five geomorphological units, namely the Intrusion Hills Unit, Denudational Hills Unit, Fluvial Volcano Plains Unit, and Body of River Unit. The lithology unit in the study area is divided into five from oldest to youngest, namely the Tuffaceous Claystone Unit, Tuffaceous Sandstone Unit, Dacite Andesite Unit, Pyroclastic Volcanic Unit, and Alluvial Unit. The geological structure that developed in the study area is the Normal Left Slip Fault, Normal Right Slip Fault, and Joints. In terms of geodiversity by Serrano and Ruiz, the study area has a very high geological diversity with a geodiversity index of 22.9. Geotourism potential analysis conducted using Kubalikova’s quantitative assessment method by evaluating the geosites of each parameter. Each geosite was investigated in respect to its scientific, educational, economic, conservation, and added values. From the assessment, Jering Hill geosite has a percentage value of 73%, so it has the highest potential for development to become a geotourism object. In the development of geotourism object to be more optimal, the enhancement of geotourism attractiveness promotion and further infrastructure development by observing geological condition and are needed. text |
