MOLECULAR DYNAMICS SIMULATION OF POLYACRYLAMIDE-WATER INTERACTION FOR ENCHANCED OIL RECOVERY APPLICATION
Enhanced oil recovery (EOR) is a method to increase crude oil production by adding gas/heat/chemical into oil well. Crude oil production increases by 10-20 % using EOR method. Polyacrylamide is EOR agent that work by increase viscosity of water that entered oil well. High viscosity can push crude oi...

This research purpose is investigate about interaction between polyacrylamide and water by using molecular dynamics simulation by using Gromacs 2020.6 version. Two systems to be studied in this research are water system and polyacrylamide-water system. Number of degree polymerization and salinity are varied for study both parameter in terms of viscosity, radius of gyration, solvent accessible surface area (SASA), radial force distribution and number of intramolecular hydrogen bonds. The results from processed data show that water viscosity, number of intramolecular hydrogen bonds, and SASA increase as number of degree polymerization increases. radius of gyration and radial force distribution decrease as number of degree polymerization. By adding sodium and chloride ion will affect the change of radius of gyration, which also affect the change of viscosity. text |
