services easily found in many variations with lower cost than before. Special IP
transport protocol give quality assurance for delivered content and latest CODEC
come with greater compression ability. Full support from academic, government
and private in open source development. One of many application can be build
based on these technologies is IPTV.
IPTV is a system of digital television that utilized IP network as delivery
system. This system could give flexible quality of service, from low resolution
such as selular phone video, up to high reolution service in High Definition
Television (HDTV). The other superiority of IPTV is interactivity (bi-directional)
that gave personalized services. IPTV could be developed as useful aplication,
such as: tele eduaciton, tele medicine, VoD service, teleconference and etc.
The goal of design and implementation Portal IPTV interactive with open
source components is to acommodate isues in convergence, as well in media and
devices. This portal is EPG (Electronic Program Guide) with snapshot of services
and link to the services. Portal IPTV is similar with website but have more feature
to display in television or computer screen and simple navigation to minimize
effort of controlling the menu.
The quality measurement of Portal IPTV services based on measurement of
Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE). QoS could be measure
by RFC 4445 standard in Media Delivery Index (MDI). QoE is measured by Mean
Opinion Score (MOS) in recommendation ITU-T P.800 for audio and ITU-R
BT.500 for video. |
