Summary: | Shipping of KPC coal is done in two ways, direct loading to coal ships at the Tanjung Bara port
and loading to coal ships via transhipment at sea. Direct loading to large ships can only be done
at the port of Tanjung Bara through two arms ship loaders. Ship loading takes place 24 hours
and 7 days a week.
To support the continued increase in coal production and shipment, Top Management sees the
need for efficiency and an operating strategy by increasing loading capacity through direct
loading via shiploader at Tanjung Bara Coal Terminal (TBCT).
During the process of loading coal onto the ship on the shiploader, the speed of change between
ships is very important. The sooner the better, while maintaining the safety factor. The more
efficient the time required, the more vessels can be loaded at the port which will ultimately
generate more revenue and increase profit. There are always two ships involved in the process
of changing ships, which are the ships that have finished loading and will be dispatched and the
ships that will enter and start loading.
There are eight activities involved in the process of changing ships involving various
stakeholders. Six activities related to the activities of the ship being loaded and will be
completed i.e. Final Draught, Cargo Calculation, Cargo Confirmation, Surveyor Document
Signed by Chief Officer, Shore Crew Free From Ships, and Mooring Line Released, and two
activities related to the next ship that is entered and loaded i.e Birthing Process and First Line to All Fast. In year 2020 the average time required for ship replacement is around 107 minutes
and for year 2021 it is instructed to get maximum of 102 minutes. |
