INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/72938 Children at every stage of their development need to engage in activities that stimulate their growth and development, one of which is physical activity. However, data shows that 77.6% of males and 84.7% of females aged 11-17 worldwide engage in insufficient physical activity. The lack of recreational facilities, especially in open spaces, which serve as spaces for recreation and physical activities, is one of the contributing factors to the lack of physical activity among children. Yet, physical activity has been proven to optimize children's growth and development. To address this issue, this project aims to create child-friendly public spaces that can be utilized by children to engage in positive physical activities during their leisure time. The project is expected to provide various activities needed by children in the late-childhood phase, ages 6-12, including recreational, educational, creative, and collaborative activities to support their growth and development. The project is located in Marga Mulya, North Bekasi, Bekasi City, West Java, on a land area of 14,335 m2, and will be managed by PT Summarecon Agung Tbk. The design issues formulated in this project involve aspects related to the needs of children in obtaining proper play and learning facilities. These issues include child-friendly educational recreational spaces, an environment that supports children's intellectual development, and the harmonious relationship between outdoor and indoor spaces to respond to the site context. The selected existing site conditions have numerous trees of varying types and sizes. Therefore, the building mass will be designed based on the positioning of the trees and will be kept low, with a height equivalent to the second-floor level, to blend in with the surrounding environment. The overall area is designed with ample open spaces, such as gardens and inner courtyards, to provide ventilation, views, and engaging experiences for users. The project is expected to serve as an oasis in the midst of Bekasi City's active development of malls and apartments. With its circular design, varyingelevations, and the use of pastel colors, the building aims to create a cheerful and enjoyable atmosphere for both children and accompanying parents. The project also highlights its identity as a facility for children, with attractive features such as a reading garden and treehouse in the playground. text
